Mariam is a seasoned international development professional currently serving as a Portfolio Manager with Sankofa Consulting. In this role, she leverages her extensive global experience and evaluation skills to provide research and technical support. Her work empowers organizations to meticulously track their impact and derive actionable insights from data, driving meaningful improvements and informed decision-making.
Her career spans multiple impactful positions. At WaterAid, Mariam played a crucial role in fundraising and program management to deliver essential water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services to the most vulnerable communities in Mali. In Ethiopia, Mariam contributed to the Cost of Hunger in Africa Study for the World Food Programme (WFP) where She was instrumental in the planning, implementation, and development of this multi-sectoral study, which examined the social and economic impact of child undernutrition across African countries. This study has helped shape policies and initiatives aimed at combating hunger and improving child health and nutrition.
Mariam’s extensive international exposure, spanning countries such as China, Kenya, Italy, France, South Korea, and the USA, has profoundly enriched her perspective. This diverse background has equipped her with a deep understanding of global development challenges and opportunities, allowing her to approach problems with a comprehensive and informed viewpoint.
A Fulbright scholar, Mariam holds a Bachelor and Master’s in Business Management from IESEG School of Management in France and a Master in Public Administration from the University of Washington.
